This is our bag…..what’s in yours?

You think to yourself…..”it’s funny, the National Broadcast Warning System has never tested this time of day….”  Even more strange, the message that you are hearing sounds quite different!!  Your heart starts pounding because you realize by the end of the message that the S has finally HTF!!  And you always thought:  “that’ll never happen to me.”  When your worst nightmare occurs you will undoubtedly have little time to get to safety.  If you can’t readily get to your safe zone, what items do you have on hand to survive until you can?

Studies have found that nearly 95% of all survival situations can be deciphered within 72 hours of first contact.  But be warned guys….the first 72 hours of a survival situation are extremely crucial.  Ensuring that you have the right gear for survival can ultimately be the deciding factor between life and death.  Putting together a 72-Hour bag (or B.O.B., Bug-Out-Bag) is a good way to make sure you’re ready for whatever may come your way.  Basically guys…..we all need to have a survival kit, already on hand, that we’ve assembled in order to keep us alive as we undertake the journey to our safe zone in the event of an emergency situation.

Although your needs may vary from ours, there are some things that we think all 72-Hour bags should have.  A first-aid kit, some rope, a knife, and water-proof fire-starter are all items we deem necessities.  We also have a portable water filtration system, binoculars, topographical maps, a lantern, a canteen, raincoat, an ax, tactical blankets, spare ammo, MRE’s, and more!!  When you pack your bag, be sure not to over-pack!!  We understand that there may be things that you “think” you need, but understand that at some point you have to carry this thing!  And you may have to carry it for long periods of time.  You will undoubtedly have to prioritize between needs and weight.  One important tip we can offer is to make sure your pack has plenty of MOLLE attachment options.  This will allow you to attach smaller, easier to access storage compartments for quickly needed items.
