From the Vault: Springfield XDS .45

It’s been quite some while, but it’s that time to return to the PSA vault for another piece of hardware that lives in our gun world!!!  Today for all of our fans of concealed carry we would like to bring to you an active participant in our EDC:  Springfield XDS in .45 caliber!!!  We might as well take the time to say now, that yes….the entire PSA family knows that we have a certain affinity for Sig Sauer products!!  But boy-oh-boy did we get a gem when we stumbled upon this little bugger!!!  This gun is so special to us, when we aren’t carrying this little guy, we keep it stored in a safe, inside of a vault, inside of the bowels of a volcano!!!  So without any further adieu…

You know we can’t pass up the chance to share a little history lesson, so before we get to the goodies let’s take a stroll down “History Lane.”  American great, George Washington ordered the creation of the Springfield Armory in 1777 to store the nations munitions.  In 1797 the Armory begin burning powder in defense of the liberties of freedom.  In 1974 the fledgling company was rescued and brought back to life after being disbanded buy the U.S. government just a few years before.  Now, Springfield Armory is one of the United States’ largest firearms manufacturers and maintains a solid foothold on a large portion of worldwide firearms sales.  The XDs family of pistols was born in 2012 and was created for those shooters desirous of “grown-up calibers” in a “deep concealment” frame of mind.

The next couple of pictures is one of the XDs that we house in the PSA vault.  This little bugger is simply amazing to say the least!!!

This particular gun is chambered in .45ACP and for it’s size has tons of features.  For starters the sights on this guy are primo!  The gun comes from the factory with both red and green night sights (the red attached, and green to spare), which make target pick-up very easy.  The serrations on the rear of the slide are just rough enough to get a grip good on the gun to cycle it (remember this is a TINY .45; the spring is a monster at first!!), but not too rough to scar the hands.  The gun is equipped with a loaded chamber indicator on the top of the slide and has a couple of other nice safety features.  Like the venerable 1911 platform, the XDs comes with a back-strap safety, and like the crowd pleasing Glock, comes with a trigger safety.  The slide release is manufactured for the right handed shooter but the mag release is ambidextrous.  The checkered grips are just rough enough for us to be able to hold on to this stout little puppy!  From the factory, the gun comes with a gun belt magazine holster, two aluminum magazines, different back-strap plates, a gun lock, and just a world of awesomeness!!!  This little puppy has chewed every load we have put through it from Atlanta Arms, to Blazer, to Winchester, to Sig Sauer, to Hornady.  It simply loves to shoot!!!

***If you are unfamiliar with your gun, are interested in learning the features of a specific firearm, or you just want to learn more about firearm safety, PSA strongly suggests that you find and enroll in a reputable and comprehensive firearms safety training course. Firearms safety and responsible firearms ownership is all of our responsibility!!!

We want to thank you for taking out the time to stop by our lane at the shooting range!! We hope that you enjoyed your stay and hope that you stop back by early and often to catch up on all PSA updates! We truly hope that we were able to hit the target, and if you ever have any questions please don’t hesitate to shoot them our way!! We look forward to shooting the breeze with you soon again!!

And as always….remember to watch your six and stay low!!!
