Firearms in the news….

One of the most important facets of being responsible armed citizens is making sure that we stay abreast of changes in our industry and remain knowledgeable of firearm related focusing events.  Your buddies at PSA have got you covered on that one!!  We strive to keep you guys up-to-date on happenings in the firearms industry!  Today, we even have news from abroad!

Nevada A family seeks justice….  One of the families of one of the murder victims from the horrific Route 91 Music Festival murders has recently decided to file a lawsuit against several firearms manufacturers.  In the lawsuit, the family claims that modern sporting rifles are nothing more than “thinly-disguised” machine guns.  The family also claimed that whether or not these rifles are fitted with the now-banned bump stocks has no bearing on the rifles’ deadliness.  Our hearts, thoughts, and prayers continue go out to those families as their lives will never be the same.

Virginia – Enough is enough Gov. Northam…  In sweeping fashion, Virginia’s Gov. Ralph Northam recently rolled out eight specific gun control bills that he wants enacted into law.  During this week the Virginia legislature held a special session to hear these bills.  He boasted that the measures called for “votes and laws, not thoughts and prayers” in reaction to a recent shooting.  But……..not a single vote was cast on the legislation. Less than two hours after beginning the session, Virginia lawmakers abruptly adjourned and postponed any movement on gun laws until after the November election.  Responsible armed citizens should always be sure to exercise their rights to vote!

New Zealand – Soooooooo, what can they actually have?…?…?….  Recently, in response to a high-profile shooting in Christchurch, the New Zealand government enacted the Arms Amendment Act 2019.  This new piece of legislation prohibits the sale and civilian possession of all center-fire semi-automatic rifles.  To add insult to injury, the bill also banned semi-automatic and pump-action shotguns “that are capable of holding more than 5 cartridges,” or are “capable of accepting a detachable magazine.” Smacking responsible armed citizens of New Zealand even harder in the face, detachable center-fire rifle magazines were also prohibited!  The penalty for being caught with one of the prohibited items:  up to 5 years in prison!!!  We can see it now:  “Honey…..time to sell the summer house in New Zealand….”
