Legal Shots….

The desire to protect life, limb, and property is becoming more and more prevalent and can be seen by way of surging numbers of firearms owners.  Being able to stay abreast of changes and updates in firearms laws and statutes should be of paramount concern for all responsible armed citizens.  Although the following updates don’t end the list, these are some of the most interesting and useful updates that we have come across within the last week or so….

2nd amend

District of Columbia:  Minor set back in the D.C. area for responsible armed citizens…  Recently, Washington D.C. Attorney General Karl Racine filed a petition with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia for a full court hearing after a three-judge panel struck down the District’s restrictive “may issue” rules for issuing concealed carry permits.  Unfortunately, that panel issued an injunction against the city’s “good reason” justification in recent legal cases.  Washington D.C. Metropolitan Police have allowed only 126 concealed carry permits to be approved, while rejecting a whopping count of 417 permit applications as of July.  With more support we can work together to get those numbers up!!!

Hawaii:  Lets start shooting Hawaii!!!….  In some of the best news we’ve heard all week, Hawaii County is slated to bring the the first ever public shooting range to the Big Island.  “Resolution 246” was unanimously approved by the Hawaii County Council. The passage of this Resolution effectively gave the county Game Management Advisory Commission permission to start planning, funding, and site selection.  The Resolution also provided grounds to begin searching for public and private partnerships.  The legislation was drafted after local politicians began hearing from constituents and law enforcement about the need for a place to shoot.  Looks like shooters will have even more places to vacation!!!!

Mississippi:  No taxes means more ammo in Miss…..  Responsible armed citizens who legally buy firearms, ammo, and related accessories will not have to pay the 7 percent sales tax in Mississippi this up-coming weekend.  Mississippi will observe its fourth annual Second Amendment Sales Tax Holiday this weekend and shooters in that state couldn’t be happier!!!  This holiday was enacted three years ago by the State Legislature. Mississippi is one of only a handful of states that have such holidays.  Hopefully more states (like Georgia!!) will pick this trend up soon!!!

***  If you are unfamiliar with firearms and/or their accessories, and want to learn more, PSA strongly suggests that you find, enroll, and attend a comprehensive and reputable firearms safety course. Firearms safety is all of OUR responsibility.

We want to thank you for taking out the time to stop by our lane at the shooting range!!  We hope that you enjoyed your stay and hope that you stop back by early and often to catch up on all PSA updates!  We truly hope that we were able to hit the target, and if you ever have any questions please don’t hesitate to shoot them our way!!  We look forward to shooting the breeze with you soon again!!

And as always….remember to watch your six and stay low!!!
