Being able to travel with our craft affords us the opportunity to meet a host of shooters from around the world!! As connoisseurs of all things firearms, it does our hearts good to be able to show you guys some of our friends and family’s personally owned firearms! When we travel and meet new shooters we will try and bring you guys some of their prized firearms….and of course a little historical background of them too!!!
If you’re familiar with PSA you know we LOVE anything Sig Sauer, but today we’ve decided to give you guys a taste of another German-born-American-grown high-quality firearm! And just because we love you guys we’ll give you a double dose!!!
Heckler & Koch (commonly known as H&K or HK) is a German defense manufacturing company that specializes in producing handguns, military rifles, sub-machine guns and grenade launchers. H&K’s headquarters is located in Oberndorf, Germany and also has subsidiaries in the UK, France, and in the U.S.A. After the world saw Germany fall in WWII, many manufacturing factories and munitions depots were abandoned. Three former Mauser engineers: Edmund Heckler, Theodor Koch and Alex Seidel saved what they could from an abandoned Mauser factory, salvaged those items, and started a machine tool plant to become known as the Engineering Office Heckler & Co. On December 28, 1949, the Engineering Office Heckler & Co. changed its name and was registered officially as Heckler & Koch GmbH. In the early stages of H&K, the company cut its teeth by manufacturing machine tools, bicycle and sewing machine parts, gauges and other precision parts. 69 years (and counting) later, H&K is going strong and even has a corporate location in the home of PSA: Georgia!!
Both of the H&K pistols that we are bringing to you wacky shooters are VP9’s. Vincent’s VP9 was brand new on picture day and on it’s first day at the range. Jay runs his VP9 real slick, with the Streamlight TLR-1 (rail mounted tactical light). Jay also chose the VP9 with the ODG frame (very easy on the eyes!!). Both guys are highly impressed with the firearms’ accuracy straight out of the box, the sights, and the feel. Good purchase guys!!!
The VP9 is H&K’s latest handgun and the first striker fired H&K since the venerable P7 series pistols were introduced to both military and civilian shooters in the 1980s. With the VP9, shooters have an attractive pre-travel pull until the trigger reaches the break. The VP9 is equipped with H&K’s ergonomic handgun grip design that includes three changeable back-straps……and six different side panels!!!! With this offering, H&K’s VP9 accommodates all hand sizes. The VP9 has an extended Picatinny 1913 rail and has been tested and certified to handle mounted accessories up to 5.6 ounces. All in all this little puppy is a real a tack driver!
