Know your roll….

Many eons ago in a land far, far away (South Georgia that is….), we were fortunate enough to to hear a story of an old traveler on a road trip.  On his way to Maine, this traveler so happened to stop off in a town just outside of New York, NY.  He was unfortunate enough to be stopped by the police for a minor traffic infraction.  This traveler being from Georgia, had no idea about the local laws and was immediately detained, and eventually arrested for illegal possession of a firearm.  He thought he was good to roll as he had a legal CCW license from his state of residency.  Unfortunately for him, in the world of firearms ignorance is bliss…..or is it?

The decision to own and carry a firearm should entail more than simply plinking at some cans in your back yard or going to the range once a week shooting at paper targets. The responsibility that is attached to firearm ownership extends to being aware of all laws and statutes that exist wherever you are with your firearm.   “I didn’t know,” is not going to fly when you’re in front of a judge for an illegal possession arraignment.   You should always know your roll when you have your firearm.  Be familiar with local and state laws regarding firearm possession and transport so that you don’t end up behind bars.

In today’s highly advanced technological world, there is no excuse for shooters to be oblivious to any applicable firearms statutes.  There are several smartphone apps that allow users to read laws, view reciprocity maps, and remain updated in any changes. The good thing is that there are a couple that are even free for use.  Don’t allow yourself to face legal repercussions for not being aware.

***  If you are unfamiliar with firearms and/or their accessories, and want to learn more, PSA strongly suggests that you find, enroll, and attend a comprehensive and reputable firearms safety course. Firearms safety is all of OUR responsibility.

We want to thank you for taking out the time to stop by our lane at the shooting range!!  We hope that you enjoyed your stay and hope that you stop back by early and often to catch up on all PSA updates!  We truly hope that we were able to hit the target, and if you ever have any questions please don’t hesitate to shoot them our way!!  We look forward to shooting the breeze with you soon again!!

And as always….remember to watch your six and stay low!!!
