Your AR’s best friend….

Sling

We’ve all heard it before, and I’m sure we all know….dogs are a man’s best friend. Although this antiquated saying has it’s merits, and we love our dogs…..at PSA our newest best friends are our AR’s!!!   And although we KNOW that we are our AR’s best friend, our AR also has another bestie….it’s sling!  Slings are to an AR what a holster is to your pistol.  Would you carry your pistol without it’s holster?  If not, then why in the name of Sweet Baby Odin would you carry your AR without a sling?

Slings are a necessary evil in the world of AR’s (and most long guns…shotguns included!). They are an effective form of transition in case you are in a situation where you have to transition to a pistol or other backup weapon.  In a defensive situation you also may need to use both hands to fight off an attacker or simply do other things besides shooting. Think of it like this…you can either sling it, or you can give it to the bad guy to hold for you while you call 911!  Seriously guys…personal protection is serious business and having what you need in a defensive situation is paramount.  Defensive firearms are only the beginning.  It is imperative that shooters also develop their defensive mindsets.

Slings for AR patterned rifles and other long guns come in a myriad of styles, colors, and uses.  The picture above shows an illustration of some of the slings in the PSA vault.  On the left you can see a single-point bungee style sling.  These are used most of the time for M4 style rifles (shorter barreled rifles) and allow for multiple types of shouldering and movement.  On the left is a two-point tactical sling with QD mounts.  These are used more for carbine rifles and the like.  They add more stability on these styled rifles than do the single-point slings and make transport of rifles more efficient for the shooter.

***  If you are unfamiliar with firearms and/or their accessories, and want to learn more, PSA strongly suggests that you find, enroll, and attend a comprehensive and reputable firearms safety course. Firearms safety is all of OUR responsibility.

We want to thank you for taking out the time to stop by our lane at the shooting range!!  We hope that you enjoyed your stay and hope that you stop back by early and often to catch up on all PSA updates!  We truly hope that we were able to hit the target, and if you ever have any questions please don’t hesitate to shoot them our way!!  We look forward to shooting the breeze with you soon again!!

And as always….remember to watch your six and stay low!!!
