Welcome back to our lane at the range!!! Today, we are very happy to bring to you one of our most adored rifles!!! The SIG516 Patrol FDE is by far one of the most impressive AR patterned rifles that we have encountered!! We must say that SIG did a wonderful job on this little puppy! About two months ago we brought the little brother of the 516 Patrol FDE…..the P516 (pistol version of the 516 Patrol!). The little brother of the family is the Gen1 version while the big brother, the 516 Patrol, is the Gen2 version. They are identical with a very few subtle differences.
Both brothers in this family of AR patterned rifles have the SIG patented 4-position adjustable gas block and are short-stroke piston driven (versus the common direct impingement actions of most other AR rifles). They both have all-ambi-everything controls and come standard with quad-rails for easily attaching any other toys and gadgets that you can possibly fit!!!
Our 516 Patrol FDE came with a two-point tactical sling, generous BUIS, a 6-position collapsible stock, 30-round PMAG, and a magazine well stand. Since we brought this wonderful guy home, we have installed a Thunder Technologies Heartbreak muzzle device, ATI pistol grip, Daniel Defense buttstock, and a Magpul MS4 tactical two-point QD sling. On the horizon for this little puppy is the Sig Romeo reflex red-dot sight.
As far as the other technical specs, we will let revisit the post from the little brother!! Below we have supplied a couple of pictures of the 516 Patrol…we even included a family photo!!!
