Everywhere we go, it seems as though we are bound to encounter a dummy! Fortunately, we will spare you the inane details on the countless number of dummies that make us smarter every day!! This post…you wacky shooters is about just that….DUMMIES! But not that guy that can’t walk and chew gum at the same time… today we are talking about dummy rounds.
One of the best ways to become a shooter that is smarter than your average bear is to use dummies….dummy rounds of ammo that is! Most simply put, dummy rounds are ammunition rounds that are completely inert. In laymen terms, dummy rounds contain no gun-powder, no primers, nor any of the explosive propellants that usually come in customary ammunition. These rounds come in most of the common calibers and can be found in most of your local gun shops. There are a myriad of companies that make these little buggers, and they are usually pretty cheap. These rounds aid shooters in practicing with loading, clearing jams, and working through common stoppages. My dear old granny used to tell me….practice makes perfect, unless you’re practicing making mistakes! But seriously though guys…practicing with these dummy rounds make you more proficient with the operation of your protection firearms. When the life of you or your loved ones is predicated on the use of a firearm, efficiency and effectiveness are key.
Laser bore sight tools also aid in more effective shooting techniques. These little doo-hickies go directly in the chamber of your firearm (they are sold caliber specific) just as a live cartridge would, and aid shooters in sighting their particular firearm of choice. This cuts down on spent ammo, time at the range, and pain-staking sighting.
