From the Vault: Taurus Judge Public Defender

Every once in a while we are lucky enough to happen upon a marvel of the world in which we dwell.  Well my good people, the world in which I dwell is all about GUNS!!!  Love em, carry em, heck I even cherish some of my guns!  One of the marvels that I stumbled upon was the: “elephant gun” as my brother calls it!  The Taurus Judge line of handguns seemed to amaze me at first sight!

This little sucker is actually the smallest of the bunch; it’s called the Pubic Defender.  The first thing that strikes you is the enormous cylinder on this puppy!!  Almost double the size of some small caliber revolvers!  Well… that’s for a reason hot shot.  This guy shoots .410 shotgun shells (ANY .410 load) and .45 Long Colt rounds out of the same cylinder with NO modifications.  Yes, I said it this thing shoots shotgun shells!  A handgun that shoots shotgun shells is like being able to ride a purple unicorn on the surface of the moon….in other words: magical!!!

The second thing that caught me was the bright red fiber optic front sight.  When I tell you that this sight picks up in most any condition I’ve shot in, it really does!!  The sights on the firearm are dead on, fresh out of the box when i bought it about 4 years ago and I’ve put about 400 rounds through it.  Still crazy accurate and dead on.

One of the best features (in my opinion) of the gun is the grip.  Not only is it ergonomic, but is feels good in the hand.  Being the smaller of the bunch, the grip is definitely small, but I must admit it feels good in the hand.  Somehow, Taurus has designed this grip to magically absorb the brunt of the kick.  Don’t ask me people!!!  I don’t know how they did it but they did!  It really is a dream to shoot!  The trigger has a constant pull in double action mode and there is zero creep on either DA or SA modes.  Its hard to find a better pistol for the price.

**Some of our expert readers will notice that in these pictures, the pistol appears to be loaded.  It is, but with dummy rounds used for training purposes only.  PSA grounds itself on the premise of safety.  We try at all times to follow all safety rules when handling firearms, loaded or unloaded.

We would like to thank you for stopping by our lane at at the shooting range and we hope that we were able to hit the target!  Be sure to check back with us soon and often, and check for PSA updates.  We hope that you enjoyed your time with us and we look forward to shoot with you soon!

And as always….remember to watch your six and stay low.
